Jake and Judy have hopped into Spring!
Jake and Judy have hopped into Spring! | Kids Toothbrush Club
Spring has Sprung and Jake and Judy are so excited about all the fun things to discover in April! March may have come in “like a lion and out like a lamb”, but “April showers bring May flowers” so Jake and Judy have some great ideas to reward your children for brushing their teeth and filling up their Kids Toothbrush Club sticker chart.
April is National Youth Sports Safety Month. Take a trip to the park and bring along the bikes, footballs, and a baseball and bat and enjoy the outdoors. But don’t forget the helmets! Tell your child that toothpaste with fluoride is like a helmet for your teeth and it protects teeth from foods that can cause cavities, so it’s important to brush after every meal with a small amount of toothpaste that contains fluoride so that our teeth have their helmet on!
Earth Day is April 22nd, so give back to Mother Earth and reward your kids for a great week of brushing and flossing and let them plant a flower garden. Tell them about the importance of removing weeds to help the flowers grow, just like brushing and flossing removes plaque and prevents cavities. The sun and water give flowers the healthy nutrients they need, just as kids need healthy snacks like fruits and vegetables. We wouldn’t feed flowers candy, would we?
Parents, April 25th is “Bring Your Child to Work Day.” What a great way to reward your child for all their hard work in school, around the house and for brushing their teeth! And what a wonderful way for you to be a good role model for them. Kids love to model their parents. Let them help you cook dinner, clean the house, fold the laundry and do other chores around the house, but make it fun. They just want to be like you! And when you are brushing your teeth, let them brush their teeth right alongside of you. Make it a race to see who can brush the longest!
April 26th is Arbor Day and planting a tree is another excellent reward for a job well done! Teach your child about how trees need sturdy roots to grow tall and strong and our teeth have roots as well. Our roots are protected under our gums and to prevent gum disease we brush and floss to remove excess plaque and tartar.
Rain, rain go away? No way! Some rainy day ways to reward your kids for brushing their teeth are build a fort, finger paint, and have an alphabet scavenger hunt around the house. And if it’s not stormy outside, embrace the rain, put on some rain boots and let the kids splash in the puddles. They’ll probably need a bath anyway, right?
So many fun things to do, but Jake and Judy want to remind you to not be an “April Fool” and don’t rush the brush. Remember to brush for two-minutes after each meal and don’t forget to put a star on your Kids Toothbrush Club calendar. “Because every child deserves a healthy smile.”
